I have been using LinkedIn frequently. I post some updates on DTT and digital radio transition in Turkey. I found out that there are not enough source of information on these subjects. So, although it is extra work for me, I try to post my comments on these in English also.  Recently Mr. Esat ÇIPLAK, gave a speech on DTT transition in Turkey. He is one of the members of Supreme Council of Radio & Television in Turkey, namely RTÜK. There are nine members of RTÜK. Mr. ÇIPLAK claims that there is no need to build a new DTT network as there are very little percentage left watching analog terrestrial television. According to Mr. ÇIPLAK, even in Europe percentage of population watching television via DTT is decreasing. As you well know, Turkey has not yet build DTT. So, Mr. ÇIPLAK claims that the UHF band should be released to mobile operators. Mobile operators will use the frequency band more efficient.  I posted a comment on these in my blog in Turkish. As you follow I have been interviewing on the digital radio standards. With those interviews, I personally learn a lot. I have been working in the broadcast since 1998. It is nearly 20 years and I have to say that it is quite a short time for an engineer in this sector to claim that he has experience. I am just a junior, trying to become a senior. Fairs are one of the most important events for an engineer in his journey to become senior. There are three main broadcasting fair through out the year; NAB, Broadcast Asia & IBC. For Europe, IBC is the event of this sector.  You may ask if it is possible to meet at IBC.  To be honest I really want to.  To be realistic it seems quite hard, to be able to meet I physically should be in Amsterdam, which, till this year, never happened :)  For those who will have the chance I would like to post the following events from Digital Radio Mondiale:

Just one sentence information about the DRM: DRM is one of the digital radio standards available for choice, and is the only one which can work for all frequency bands. I want to thanks Ms. Obreja for her time and detailed answers. She came to Ankara many times for conference speeches. She is also  Head of Digital Radio Development in the BBC World Service.   In this second interview on digital radio, I used the same questions. I thought that by this, it would be easier to have a decision on both options. Actually, DAB/DAB+ and DRM may live together. Turkey may choose DAB/DAB+ for digitization of FM and DRM for digitization of short & medium wave radios. 1.  There are many examples of digital radio transitions all over the world. Some are great success whereas some are total fail. I think there is not a one-right-path to follow. What do you recommend us, I mean Turkey,

Hope that it is interesting to read my insights about DTT in Turkey. It is my pleasure to announce that I will be presenting about DTT in Turkey at Levira's Digital Broadcasting event in Tallinn. It will be my first time in Tallinn and actually in that north part of Europe. In my presentation I will mention the important dates about DTT, which comes from the broadcasting act 6112. I will also discuss the factors which affect the success of ASO.  As you may well know that Turkey is some what late in DTT process. It may be argued that this gives Turkey an important advantage to choose DVB-T2 and start DTT directly with DVB-T2. But the TV market in Turkey is different than all other CEE countries. There are only 2 DTH Pay TV operators, one cable and one IPTV operator. Nearly 70 % of households receive TV through satellite. Cable, is not an important alternative. Hence, DTT may give the people an interesting alternative. Some argue that comparing with 1000 channels with satellite
