2wcom Systems Partners with Ravenna for Audio-over-IP Interoperability
Flensburg, GERMANY — 7 December 2015
2wcom Systems has joined the RAVENNA partner community led by ALC NetworX GmbH in Munich.
Developed in response to a growing need within the broadcast industry for a powerful and reliable audio networking solution, RAVENNA is an open-technology standard for the real-time transport of audio and other media data in IP-based network environments. RAVENNA operates on most existing network infrastructures using standard networking technology, offering low latency, full signal transparency and high reliability, together with scalable performance and capacity. RAVENNA can be applied to in-house signal distribution for broadcasting and other fixed installations, live event venues and inter-studio links.
“RAVENNA is the best standard for audio-over-IP interoperability, and the market leader in our field,” said Werner Drews, founder and managing director of 2wcom.
“By joining the community we have also satisfied customer demand for RAVENNA compliance in our products – particularly the MM01 solution for audio-over-IP contribution and distribution.”
RAVENNA is a technology for real-time distribution of audio and other media content in IP-based network environments. Utilizing standardized network protocols and technologies, RAVENNA can operate on existing network infrastructures. RAVENNA is designed to meet the strict requirements of the pro audio market featuring low latency, full signal transparency and high reliability.
While primarily targeting the professional broadcast market, RAVENNA is also suitable for deployment in other pro audio market segments like live sound, install market and recording. Possible fields of application include (but are not limited to) in-house signal distribution in broadcasting houses, theaters, concert halls and other fixed installations, flexible setups at venues and live events, OB van support, inter- facility links across WAN connections and in production & recording applications.
Unlike most other existing networking solutions, RAVENNA is an open technology standard without a proprietary licensing policy. RAVENNA is fully compatible with the AES67-2013 standard on High-performance Streaming Audio-over-IP Interoperability.
